It is annoying when you get home to see & hear the PC going flat tackers for unknown reasons> I had know idea why it was turning its self on and going into resume loader & yes I found my self stuck trying to rectify the problem as I would have to close it a couple of times just to have boot properly again... Thanks man the advice solved my problem. No more worrying about being away & coming home to a PC that is running flat tackers & stuck in resume mode... did as you said>>> from an administrated account I deleted the hibernation data (hiberfil.sys) thats simple! thanks :)

FYI... I am guessing that since the introduction of version 12 "FRODO" the XBMC developers have added PVR functions into XBMC. They have assigned the "K" key to a function for the PVR, which I have no need for. I guess you can delete the PVR lines in the .xml file if you wish. But for those who want this feature preserved you can assign another key like I did. I chose the "N" key arbitrarily because all it does is open the music playlist when you are inside the music menu and has no effect on the global settings. With the remote I use, this works out perfectly for me. Hope this tidbit helps others and thanks to the original poster for helping me get pointed in the right direction.

I have a usb bootable flash drive with the Windows disk on it as an iso file.

With everything stuck (no keyboard, unable to access bios) will the computer still boot from the usb drive?

If your Linux disc supports writing to NTFS partitions, then it should work. You may have to manually mount the partition. A Windows Recovery CD will also work; they are available for download if you do a Google search for them.

Is there any way to fix this without a Windows disk? I'm getting the same problem when I boot in Windows or Linux Mint. I have a Mint boot disk but that doesn't seem to work..

it worked, but de command.exe keeps showing C:documents and setting >
so, i put ''"C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe" /setPrefInt hide-ping-dropdown 1'' in start -> run and opened, and the ping button dissapeared

Yeah, I noticed that it doesn't seem to be possible to completely eradicate the toolbar, but at least after doing the steps and closing the toolbar it doesn't pop back up automatically anymore.

My BBB complaint was closed as "Consumer rejects business' final offer". Their offer was "don't install the update and lose access to PSN permanently". Some offer!

Unfortunately, Sony has an 'F' rating with the BBB and ignores most complaints, so not much will come of them, but hopefully if the FTC gets enough complaints they'll take action on the issue.

And what if you want to use it for both? It was advertised as performing both functions and did so for the first years of its life. Some people like to get full use out of the devices that they purchase.

It's not a case of buying a toaster and wanting a coffee maker, too. It's a case of buying a coffee maker with a built-in single-slot toaster (both of which worked fine) that has been disabled because the company that manufactured it decided they didn't want to support toasting bread anymore.

I don't see the problem.

Want to run linux and use the Ps3 as a computer ? don't update, use as-is.
Want to use it for what it was designed (a game console) ? Update it.

Typical case of the toaster also needs to be a coffee maker.

I didn't. Without a color calibrator device (which I haven't bought yet), I have no way of doing it correctly. My other monitor has better colors, so I've been using that one for photo editing and using the second monitor for Twitter/iTunes/AIM/etc.
